Innovation and Learning

Start with clarity of intent.

Now build it out with an evocative vision. Improvise progress by tinkering: with lots of trial and lots of error. The not knowing is the best bit: the mysteries the surprises, and from time to time the windfalls!

Design Challenge

This is a time for MOON-SHOT THINKING... what would you LOVE TO SEE happen?

"Design a day at Redeemer in 2017 where [name of student] loves learning and thrives."

You can:

  • create a storyboard showing key moments
  • use diagrams, squiggles etc
  • burst out keywords to unpack your vision
  • include a re-imagination of any aspect of Redeemer

(Out of Bounds: negative / defeatist / diagnostics)

optional starter: consider how choice, space (including technology), relationship and purpose might look in specific learning situations.

12.00pm Speed-Dating Sharing

Each team sits at a station.

When the clock starts, each team leaves ONE PERSON at their station.

Everyone else in the room shuffles to find a new chair in a new space.

At each station the team member who stayed showcases their storyboard & takes questions.

The process repeats, with the "presenter" shifting.

More about "Design Thinking"

This morning's program loosely follows a process called Design Thinking, which starts with insights about people, defines what we're aiming to achieve, looks for new ideas, builds a prototype, tests it with the people, then continues the cycle over and over.

It is a very powerful way of working. There are endless online tutorials if you wish to learn more, such as:

Stanford DSchool

Ideo

There is a related area called "User Experience" or "UX" which has incredible potential for helping us find a way forward in education. Simply google "UX" for endless resources, links, tutorials, and templates.
